Pride performer stayed in £739-a-night hotel suite

Back in 1991, all performers at Manchester’s LGBT bank holiday weekend — the Carnival of Fun — gave their services for free, so that the maximum could be raised for HIV and AIDS charities.

I wonder what fee Sophie Ellis Bextor received for her performance at Manchester Pride this week? The Manchester Evening News reports that she stayed in a top £739-a-night hotel suite and asked for her own private gym to be set up in the rooms during her overnight stay. Bless…

I’m sure I can guess which ‘charity’ very likely picked up the tab for the hotel room too…
