The early hours of 13 January 2013. A still from the video footage which you can watch below. As I recorded this on Richmond Street I was physically assaulted by a man who took a swipe at my camera. The Police Commissioner hustings event was held at the Roscoe Building, Manchester University, on November 6, 2012. Four of the candidates were present: Matt Gallagher – Liberal Democrats, Tony Lloyd – Labour Party, Michael Winstanley – Conservative, and Steven Woolfe – UK Independence Party. Jimmy Savile implicated in the tragic story of a 15-year-old Top of the Pops dancer who took an overdose and died after spending the night with a “well-known disc jockey” in 1971

Back in May I wrote about the tragic story of a 15-year-old girl who killed herself in 1971. A news report in The Guardian on April 6th of that year describes how she had danced on Top of the Pops on four occasions and, according to her diary, spent the night with a man the Jimmy Savile implicated in the tragic story of a 15-year-old Top of the Pops dancer who took an overdose and died after spending the night with a “well-known disc jockey” in 1971

Manchester’s gay village topped the city centre league for violent crime again in January

The crime level street map for January shows that the gay village was again the worst spot in the whole city centre for violent crime (orange). The village was the top spot for anti-social behaviour too (blue).
