We went for a meal at our current favourite place on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme, Manchester. An area that is known as ‘the curry mile’.

Update: (10 Jan 2007) sadly our last couple of visits haven’t been up to the same standard. So we’re trying some others.

My sister was in Manchester on business and offered to treat me to a late birthday lunch on her. We went to the The Ox — a pub on Liverpool Road that I’d heard good things about.

We weren’t disappointed. We had soup and then a big sandwich each. Mine was chicken breast, bacon and onions. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice.

My little nephews had sent me a birthday video message. So I recorded one for them.

My sister was impressed with Manchester and thought it very clean compared to London. Interesting to get the first impressions of someone who hasn’t visited for a long time.

I found a recipe for pissaladiere (French onion tart), on the side of a bag of Dove’s Farm Pasta Flour. So I thought I’d give it a try. Olives, anchovies, onions, tomatoes…

It tasted great but I put on far too many tomatoes I think. In fact, some recipes don’t mention tomatoes at all. The Dove’s Farm recipe doesn’t include yeast, but others do. I’m confused (but it doesn’t take much) :-)
