Watching the G20 protests on TV it seemed that every other person had a camera. Yet only two video clips of the Ian Tomlinson incident have come to light so far. One was shot by a member of the public, the other by a broadcast news team and despite professional cameras being outnumbered by ‘activist’ cameras to the tune of hundreds to one.

A fluke? I suggest not.

Time is fast running out to transfer precious Video8 and Hi8 camcorder recordings

If you have a stack of camcorder tapes from the 1980′s and 1990′s (and hopefully the camcorder to play them on) time is running out to preserve that footage for the future, by making a copy.

As a photographer myself, I broke out into a cold sweat reading how this poor man lost most of his image library in the Lever Street fire. Equipment can be replaced but unique transparencies, negatives and digital images can’t be.

Toad legend that may have inspired ‘One Froggy Evening’

While looking for the film clip of the Abraham Lincoln statue, I discovered this.

The story of a toad that (supposedly) was trapped in a building cornerstone, but was still alive when found 31 years later. This must surely have been the inspiration for the Merrie Melodies cartoon One Froggy Evening?
