In 1991 the fireworks were paid for by the Central Manchester Development Corporation (CMDC) as shown on the programme:

It's another example of the way the costs have been moved onto the LGBT community and charities over the years while businesses across the city run off with the cash.

I wonder how many years the CMDC funded the fireworks for?

I agree that somewhere other than Sackville Park would be a more appropriate venue but the bars and clubs are desperate to keep everyone within the gay village for as long as possible.

Unbelievable waste of money!!

This has been George House Trust's method of ending the Vigil for 7 years now, and I deplore it.

The Vigil used to be a decent, moving affair (especially when it was held at Castlefield Arena).
