Conditional server side includes and cookies

I can’t write PHP or Javascript. I could learn, but I don’t have much interest. Most of my websites are good old-fashioned static HTML and I use server-side-includes a lot.

Classic Colgate toothpaste ad

A marvellous Colgate toothpaste ad from the early 1980’s based on ‘Baggy Trousers’ by Madness.

And here’s a version for the US market with some of the same kids. But with every trace of Britishness and most of the Madness imagery removed it doesn’t quite ‘get it’ and ends up looking like a dog’s dinner.

Heinz pulls ad for unhealthy Deli Mayo due to ‘gay’ kiss

Heinz has pulled a TV ad which featured a kiss between two men, following 200 complaints from viewers. Some of them complained that it was unsuitable for children. However the ad was banned from being shown in and around kids’ shows anyway because the unhealthy Deli Mayo product is high in fat, salt or sugar, not because of the same sex kiss.

Christian group criticised by ad watchdog

A scaremongering poster from an extremist Christian organisation has been criticised by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The Christian Congress for Traditional Values (CCTV) was told it has an outdated view of what constitutes a family in modern Britain.
