The website for Manchester Pride 2007 is up. In the past year, the Charity Commission has told Operation Fundraiser and Manchester Pride that they must be more open with the public about where money goes and how they account for the income.
The poster for Manchester Pride 2007 is out and about. But nowhere on it will you see the words ‘gay’, ‘lesbian’, ‘bi’ or ‘transgender’. The nearest you’ll get is the phrase ‘LGBT charities’.
On 18 August 2006 I wrote to Manchester Pride with the following questions. I received a reply from Marketing Manchester, saying that I would get a ‘prompt reply’ just as soon as Pride was over. Pride is not a charity event anymore says taxman It seems this is being kept oh-so-quiet in the press and online. I can see nothing about it on the Operation Fundraiser, George House Trust or Manchester Pride websites.
