World Naked Bike Ride 2010: Manchester (video)

Last night was the fifth annual Naked Bike Ride around Manchester city centre. A video is coming with footage of the ride plus interviews with the cyclists and spectators. Good news for photographers as ‘orphan works’ clause is dropped

Last night the government was forced to drop clause 43 of the Digital Economy Bill. This badly-thought-out legislation would have given publishers the freedom to use ‘orphan works’. In other words, any photograph belonging to a photographer who the publisher claimed could not be traced.

Pothole hazard for cyclists

Oxford Road in Manchester is reputed to be the busiest bus route in Europe. Since the severe winter, the surface of the road has cracked open into a large number of potholes as never before.

Accounting mistake costs Manchester Council Tax payers £421,000 and it won’t be repaid

Manchester Liberal Democrats have asked the District Auditor to investigate the loss of £421,000 of City Council funds due to a basic accounting error. The sum was part of funding that went to Marketing Manchester (the tourist board).
